QUOTATION OF THE WEEK

"Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion."
--Martha Graham, (1894-1991) Dancer, teacher, and choreographer

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

Think of a person whom you admire. It may be someone in the arts. It may be a political leader or sports figure. It may be a friend or neighbor or boss. What is the ingredient that makes this person stand out? It is their ability? You may admire their ability but there may be many others who can do what they do and perhaps even better than they can. Is it their looks, or money, or car, or home? These are fleeting things. Look for something deeper that isn't related to the physical or material realm. Perhaps this attractiveness comes from a passion for what they do. They immerse themselves in their selected task. Every fiber of their being sends out a joy and thankfulness in doing what they are doing. Passion can be a quiet commitment to the chosen task or it can be a fireworks show of blazing energy. It is a driving force that comes form within and ignites the fires of fulfillment and turns them into an intensity that is unstoppable.

What are your passions? Identify them. What do you find a burning desire to be doing? Your joy and wholeness will come from your passions. If you just accept what you or others feel is your place in life, you run the danger of being out of place. Your passions dictate your place. What moves you? What energizes you? When you think of what you passionately want to do--when you mentally disregard all perceived barriers--what stands out in your mind. That's it! That is your passion. Follow it.
