QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"If you wish to live a life free from sorrow, think of what is
going to happen as if it had already happened."
--Epictetus (c.50-c.130) Stoic philosopher"
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
We have all met people who put down the art of positive thinking. They walk around with a negative cloud over everything they do. Perhaps we have even done so ourselves. "How can we think positively," we tell ourselves, "when things around us are not going our way?" "Things will not be all right by just thinking they are all right." we have heard. What is strange is that we do not seem to have any trouble visualizing negative thoughts. We do not put down those negative thoughts with the same "impossible" thinking that we apply to positive thoughts.
To put ourselves in the frame of mind for success, we must think success. We must visualize ourselves doing and acting as if we already have the thing for which we wish. Take the example of a champion athlete. If he or she went through their training and into competition saying to themselves, "I can never do this. I just can't see myself a winner. I am hopeless and will just stay at the bottom of the heap." do you think they could get their bodies and minds to function at the highest level of performance? Never! Champions are champions before they ever compete. They see themselves as such in their mind. They act as winners. You can too.
Whether it is a physical competition, a business goal, or some personal best, act as if you are already there. If you want to be upbeat and happy, act as if you are upbeat and happy, even--and this is very important--even if you are struggling and it feels like the world is against you. In your minds eye, be the person you want to be and can be. It works like magic, and little by little you will become the winner you visualize being. You will become the person that you see. Doubt will fly away and confidence will enter. It works! Start today!
