QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Hope is itself a species of happiness, and perhaps the chief
happiness which this world affords."
--Samuel Johnson, (1709-1784) British author and lexicographer
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
Think about a time when you were feeling blue. Think about a time when your energy level was down and it was all you could do to get moving. What one thing stood out in these times? Perhaps it was the loss of hope. If we have hope, we have something to move toward, work toward, and look forward to. Hope for a better life. Hope for a better job. Hope for better relationships. Hope for peace. Webster defines hope as, "a feeling that what is wanted will happen; desire accompanied by expectation." Hope is the flame that keeps us moving toward our goals.
Hope alone will not bring forth our wants and desires, but it will keep these wants and desires alive. Hope encourages us to do the actions that are necessary to achieve our goals. Hope is a step above a dream. It is not just a "wish I had this" but it is realizing that what we want is possible.
So keep hoping. But do not stop there. Do the actions necessary to keep the fires of hope burning, then move toward your goals with daily steps. Make adjustments when necessary, but never lose hope.
