QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Three-fourths of the miseries and misunderstandings in the world will disappear if we step into the
shoes of our adversaries and understand their standpoint."
--Mohandas K. Gandhi, 1869-1948, Indian social reformer
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
True understanding is the magic key that unlocks the door to perception, clarity and growth. So often we pass judgments or form our opinions based upon other's statements or our own preconceived biases and prejudices. We do everything possible to take the easy path in deciding what a person or situation is. After all isn't it much easier to keep our own paradigms rather than risk the possibility that we are wrong. But is that the way we would want to be treated, or would we rather have others relate to us from a position of true understanding?
When you truly open up to understanding another and seeing through their eyes, it does not become a question of right or wrong; instead it becomes a melding of ideas, thoughts and perceptions that lead to the resolution of problems in a positive, connective way. True understanding is a magic key and we all have it. We also have the locked door of our own ego filled stubbornness and bias. Do you have the courage to use the key?
