QUOTATION OF THE WEEK

All our dreams can come true--if we have the courage to pursue them.
--Walt Disney (1901-1966) Artist and film producer

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

What is the real reason that we do not achieve success in the pursuit of our dreams? Is it because we do not have enough money, because we do not have enough time, because we are too old, because we are too young, because we are not strong enough, because we are too tired, because we have other responsibilities, because we cannot do this or we cannot do that, because of what someone told us, or what? Usually it is because we just do not have the courage to go after the things about which we only dream. We make up one excuse after another for why we cannot do something, but after we strip the excuses of all their fluff and banter, it comes down to one thing: fear. What a shining example we have in Walt Disney for the courage of following his dream. He broke ground and took major risks to achieve his dream. He filed bankruptcy several times but that did not stop him. As the song goes he, "picked himself up, dusted himself off, and started all over again!" Without actions, dreams are just unfilled thoughts and desires. They are things we wish we had done. They are the things other people do while we just stay on the sidelines.

Pick your dreams carefully. Some dreams are just diversions to the stresses of life. They are the "pills" that allow us to escape for a moment. But then there are the other dreams; they are the ones that have passion behind them. They are the ones that fill your thoughts with the hope of a better life for you or others. They are the ones that fill you with a special warmth and glow when you think of them. They are also the ones that can fill you with the most fear. Have courage! March into the battle of your dreams with your sights aimed high and your banner unfurled and showing the message, "I will never quit!" You too can be like Walt Disney and "...dream upon a star" and have your dreams come true.
