QUOTATION OF THE WEEK

Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire; you will what you imagine; and at last you create what you will.
--George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) Irish writer

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

Imagination fills the lives of little children. They dream up fantastic play lands. They "see" in their mind the grand shapes, colors, and scenes in their fantasy world. They dream dreams filled with the fruits of their imagination. They create. But then they grow up, and what happens--they stop imagining. They become creatures who think they must always be action oriented. They must get things done. No time to stop and look at the shapes in the clouds . . . no time to "imagine."

Imagination is at the core of great ideas. If you cannot imagine what you want, how do you know when you get it. If you cannot imagine the results, you will spin your wheels trying to get somewhere, but you are not quite certain where or why you are going there. Imagination is a wonderful thing to exercise. Yes . . . exercise! Take the time to sit quietly and imagine something better. To start, pick something simple. Close your eyes and see what it would be like to have or be doing that something better. Let your imagination run wild. Go with the wild ride and let it take you beyond just seeing something better. Let it show you how you can get there. All of this "before" you take action. The time spent with your imagination will pay dividends.

A warning, do not imagine failure, only success. It is after all your dream, your imagination, and you can imagine anything you want, so why not imagine the best. Become friends with your imagination. It can take you places that you never dared dream of in the hustle and bustle of modern life. Rekindle the kid in you and just imagine the possibilities.
