QUOTATION OF THE WEEK
Take time every day to do something silly.
--Philipa Walker
PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
How serious we take ourselves. From the time we get up in the morning until we turn the lights out at night, everything is so serious. We put on our air of "professionalism." We must keep our image up. We cannot let anyone see the kid in us. Or sadder still, the kid in us has disappeared. When we do this, we lose our balance with the lighter side of life. The line between the image we project and who we really are begins to blur.
Lighten up! Yield to that little mischievous voice that tells you to do that little silly thing that you think you could not dare do. Dance with your cat. Give the raspberry to that ridiculous billboard you pass on the way to work. Sing (it does not have to be good) in a public rest room. Make a silly face at the next stranger's baby you see. Dance naked under a full moon (you might want use little caution on where you do this one).
"What me?" you say, "I could never do those things!" Why not? Start with a little private silly and work up to the grand, show the whole world type of silly. You may be surprised at the positive reaction you get. People will become more open to you when they realize that you have enough confidence in yourself to be silly at times. And you will find less stress and more laughter in your day to day activities.
So take one silly and call me in the morning. I guarantee you that you will feel better.
